Wondering how to get the press to take notice of your preschool?
Often in trying to grow your child care center’s business, we come up empty handed, wondering how to get the press, and in the process, potential parents, to pay attention. Look how this Ohio child care center got the press to take notice, and gained parent participation in the process:

Tom Maurer of Maurer Concrete and the preschoolers of Mississinawa Valley.
Mississinawa Valley preschool students had a great time examining the big piece of equipment brought to the school parking lot by Tom Maurer, of Maurer Concrete from Ft. Loramie, Ohio.
Each child got to climb in the cab and pose for his or her picture taken by a teacher. They were full of questions and enthusiasm. Maurer helped most of the students into and out of the cab, but there were a few students who wanted to climb on their own.
So how can you make this work in your area?
Talk to your parents, even tell them you “saw” how this idea worked for another preschool. In our current economy, companies are looking for creative, inventive way to get in front of potential clients. In this case, Maurer got press coverage, and did a good deed all in one fell swoop. I suspect that he may have had a direct connection with his children or grandchildren, but either way, everyone benefited.
When looking for creative ways to market your child care center, look for ways in which “everyone’s a winner”. If you look to create synergy with your center’s parent’s as partners, the sky is the limit. Or in this case, the earth is. Let me know if you’ve had success with similar efforts, and I will gladly share your story with other preschools around the country.
